CO-FOUNDER, PHOTOGRAPHER & SCREENWRITER

As far back as Gina can remember she has been taking pictures – even before she had a camera.

“I can distinctly recall riding in the car with my mother and picturing a photograph beyond the frame of the car window. Whether it was the old woman mowing her lawn in a kimono and sneakers or all the people rolling carts out of the local supermarket – I was fascinated with capturing the images beyond my window.

This same fascination has stayed with Gina throughout her life. Originally studying as a painter, Gina earned her art degrees from both Syracuse University and Skidmore College. While studying art in NYC after college, Gina’s work was selected for The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Student Art Exhibit. Incorporating her love for writing and photography, Gina worked as a Special Events photography assistant for both – CBS and NBC as well as shooting for Saturday Night Live, New York’s Annual Fashion week and The Metropolitan Opera. Combining her strong background in classical art and painting – Gina continued her natural progression into the fascinating and magical world of photography, co-founding Renzi & Hawkens Studio with her husband, Jude Hawkens. Together they have photographed numerous photography projects and notable destination weddings and events.

Gina’s calming and intensely creative nature immediately puts her clients at ease all the while quietly and unobtrusively capturing very real and beautifully artistic moments with stunning results. Her love for art translates through her lens to create intuitive and sensitively unique images that sets her work apart.

“I always like to approach each project as if shooting a documentary. All the essential elements are there. It’s a matter of searching for the right moments. It’s in the details and paying attention to things most people might miss. These are the little gems and the images that resonate with our clients.

Gina’s work has appeared in numerous publications including - New York Magazine, NY Times, PDN, Martha Stewart, Hamptons Magazine and Style Me Pretty. Clients and associates include, Vanity Fair, Forbes, The Metropolitan Opera, Maybelline, Combe Inc, Ariella Chezar, Grammy winner David Frost, Governor Tom Wolf, classical pianist, Antoine Zemor, WET Productions, The Kitchen, Mount Snow and Hugh and Jeanne Taylor.

Building on their creative talents - Gina & Jude have launched their independent production company - Tap Dance Productions - a forum designed to celebrate the true spirit of independent filmmaking through provocative storytelling featuring projects for both film and television.
